Meet Brian, one-half of the dynamic ownership team at City First Aid. Brian wears many hats, including co-director of the business, HR and Health & Safety roles, and keeping connections strong with staff and external agencies like NZQA and other governing bodies. Around here, we affectionately call him Pa CFA.

Brian and Vicky are enjoying some time in Europe on a well-deserved break, while the CFA team keeps things running smoothly back home. And of course, first aid travels with you; the same skills we teach in New Zealand are just as valuable overseas, whether it’s looking after yourself or helping others. (We’ll introduce you to Vicky next week!)
For Brian, the most rewarding part of CFA is building strong relationships with staff and clients. He loves seeing people grow confident in their first aid knowledge - all while “keeping a tight ship” (his words, with a laugh).
He’s also proud to have carried on the vision of City First Aid’s founder, Jude Brassell. Brian had a long-standing professional relationship with Jude, and knowing her love and passion for CFA, he felt honoured when she approached him to continue the work she started. For Brian, carrying that forward is one of his greatest achievements.
When he’s not working, you’ll find Brian gardening, camping (or glamping), or enjoying anything outdoors in summer. He’s a big Johnny Cash fan, and wherever Brian is, “the Man in Black” is usually playing nearby.
Fun fact: During a mountain biking event, Brian put his first aid skills to use by helping make a crash site safe and caring for an injured rider until help arrived.
Thanks for co-steering the CFA ship, Brian! Goditi la bellezza dell’Italia!
